What’s happening in Nore Barn Woods?
March 2010

The January snows and the February rains have caused some damage, with several trees broken and many shrubs flattened. With Spring just around the corner it is hoped that much will recover without the need for replanting.

In the stream area there have been many birds, including the usual Spotted Redshank. Around the west of the woods the Barn Owl and a Buzzard are making infrequent sorties.

Work days continue, with the NW glade being cut to the ground and raked off, to encourage wild flowers. The glades will be kept “low” to act as a sheltered area for birds and butterflies.

Hedge trimming has taken place on the Wayfarers Walk. The hedge has been left uncut for 2 years to allow birds to feed off the berries. The hedge on the West path has been trimmed too.

Work days will be held on the following Saturdays 10:00 to 12:00 noon. All welcome. Meet at the shore end of Warblington Road.
