What’s happening in Nore Barn Woods?
|September 2010

Path repairs in the SW corner of the woods are now complete. The path was damaged in the storms of March 2008, with the gravel and membrane being washed away. Also repairs have been carried out in the bridge area to prevent the bank being eroded and to realign the stream.

A 4WD vehicle has unfortunately driven across the mudflats, got stuck, and damaged the Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC). The authorities have been notified.

The annual grass cut of the open area has taken place. The grass is only cut once a year and raked up, in order to promote wild flowers.

An application for Planning Permission is in preparation for work on the seawall to prevent erosion. Also a grant application is being made.

A number of fires have occurred in the woods (about one a week). If any incidents are noticed please dial 101 and report them.

A work day was not held in August, but future work days will be held on the following Saturdays 10:00 to 12:00 noon. All welcome. Meet at the shore end of Warblington Road.
